We
are a Boy Scout troop, so obviously, we are going to camp. We
try to plan a weekend outing at least once every couple of
months. These outings are usually associated with a specific
scouting theme; whether it's completing a certain merit badge or
concentrating on getting the younger guys through their next
rank. Whatever we do, we always make it fun. Once in awhile,
that's all we'll do; just kick back and have a fun, easy weekend
without much planned at all. In our troop, it's mostly up to the
boys. And of course, with Scouting, the possibilities are
endless.
Every summer,
along with spending a week at camp, we plan a longer trip of
about a week or two. Some of our past trips have been canoeing
on the
Manistee River or in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota. The past
couple of years, our Venturing Crew went to Indonesia to help
revive the ideals of scouting in that country. While we were
there, we also did some high adventure activities. We hiked a
couple of mountains, went scuba diving, and whitewater rafted.
Along with camping, hiking, canoeing, etc., we are also
on
a mission to reach out to youth and instill in them the core
values of scouting. Being a Christian-based organization based
out of a Christian church, we strive to set a Godly example in
order to help others grow
and to develop a walk with the Lord.
